Gill Net Survey

Coonamessett Farm was contracted to survey the Massachusetts Gill Net Fleet to determine the characteristics of the bottom set gill nets currently in use within that fleet. The primary focus was on the type of float line and anchoring systems employed. Samples of float line were taken from nets in use and tested for breaking strength. Additionally, several vessels were contracted to test float line weak links as part of this project.
