The project will place self-contained video cameras and recorders on commercially fished scallop dredges in the Mid-Atlantic area during the known periods of turtle interactions. Two dredges will be towed simultaneously, one as a control and one with a new frame design. The fishing characteristics and catch rates of various species encountered will be compared between the two dredges.  In addition, side scan sonar will be tested to determine its feasibility as a way to locate turtles in the water column.
